Salem State's online post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education is designed for bachelor-prepared registered nurses who want to become nurse faculty, clinical faculty, or professional development educators. 

Often, when universities and healthcare organizations are looking to hire nurse educators, they want to be sure the applicant can teach. The post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education is that documentation. 

The certificate program is designed to be completed over one semester. The first six weeks consist of online instruction in teaching and learning skills and curricular design. For the last six weeks, the learner will be placed in a teaching practicum, which may be in a live or online classroom. The program features two courses: Teaching and Learning in Nursing Education and Curriculum Development. Within these two courses, students are introduced to the most effective ways to teach and develop a curriculum suited for today's dynamic healthcare environment.

• Faculty teaching the courses are nationally certified nurse educators with extensive teaching experience and research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). 
• Small interactive class sizes 
• Online course delivery with synchronous meetings through Zoom 
• Flipped classroom delivery format: students prepare for class, and class time is primarily a discussion of concepts. 
• Time is set aside for actual teaching presentations.
