Music Spaces
Music Rehearsal Space
Located across from the department's Central Campus location in the Stanley building at 70 Loring Ave, the rehearsal space is large enough to accommodate music ensembles of up to 75 people. The acoustics in the hall are designed to create an optimum listening environment for music rehearsals.
Electronic Music Lab
The Electronic Music Lab is available to all music majors and other students enrolled in music classes. Twelve workstations are equipped with Roland digital pianos, and Macintosh computers loaded with digital recording, sequencing, notational, and ear training software currently being taught in our courses. Schedule permitting, open lab hours are available to students.
Recording Studio
The recording studio serves as the principal lab for the Music Technology Program. Equipped with a seamless integration of analog and digital capabilities, the studio utilizes 32-bit, 192kHz digital recording through Scarlett 18i20s in conjunction with a Mackie ProFX 30. It supports a wide range of Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software, including ProTools, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Reaper, and Logic. The studio's outboard equipment features T.C. Electronics signal processors, Drawmer compressors, Speck parametric equalizers, as well as Grace and Earthworks microphone preamps. An extensive selection of microphones from Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG, and Shure enhances the studio's offerings. Additional equipment is available for legacy media recording and playback. Students conduct recording projects in the adjoining live room or in the hard-wired 164-seat Recital Hall. This sophisticated blend of analog and digital components provides a realistic experience that prepares students for work in both project-based studios and commercial facilities. Additionally, the studio facilitates archival recordings of concerts held in the Recital Hall.
Percussion Studio
A large teaching studio for percussion is adjacent to the Music Rehearsal space, along with two percussion practice rooms. Each room is equipped with percussion instruments for use by students and ensembles, and each room is acoustically treated.
Music Resource 麻豆成人精品
The music resource center (located on the second floor of Building One on the Harrington Campus) houses books about music and other resource materials, ensemble literature, scores, and thousands of vintage and contemporary recordings encompassing a wide range of styles and genres. All of these resources are available for use by students and faculty.
Practice Rooms
Wenger soundproof modules (located on the second floor of Building One on the Harrington Campus) provide a private area for individual practice or small ensemble rehearsals. Each room is equipped with at least one Yamaha upright piano, bench, chair, music stand, and mirror.
Recital Hall
From student ensembles to internationally known artists, the recital hall plays host to a wide variety of events. A cultural destination for the North Shore of Boston, concertgoers enjoy the hall's acoustic excellence and visual appeal. The hall supports the academic mission of the music and dance department and is a teaching space for music instruction and ensemble rehearsal.
Dance Facilities
Sophia Gordon 麻豆成人精品 for Creative and Performing Arts
Our center for the arts provides a contemporary theater facility for performances for use throughout the semester for students, faculty, visiting artists and dance companies. It features a sprung floor, portable Marley, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. The theater accommodates an audience of 432.
O鈥橩eefe Dance Studios
Academic classes and rehearsals are held in two dance studios in the O鈥橩eefe 麻豆成人精品. The studios are equipped with Marley-covered sprung floors, mirrors, ballet barres, sound system and video projector. Lockers are available for students to store personal belongings.
O鈥橩eefe Multipurpose Gym Performance Space
This flexible, multi-use performance space is available for use by students, faculty, and visiting artists for performances and informal presentations. It is equipped with a portable Marley floor, sound system, and theatrical lighting. The space can accommodate an audience of 150.
