Overview
The certificate program in teaching聽English to speakers of other languages聽is a聽15-credit program designed to give you a strong foundation in聽ESOL teaching. By obtaining the certificate in Teaching ESOL you will be qualified to teach in adult, community, college prep, or overseas language programs.
Those interested in pursuing the MAT in Teaching ESOL upon completion of the certificate may apply courses taken toward the MAT degree, provided all other admissions requirements are met.聽
Please note: This program does not lead to a Massachusetts public school teaching license in ESOL. Students interested in earning the teaching license should work towards the Masters of Arts in Teaching ESOL.聽For questions about licensure or the School of Education,聽email the student services office.

This certificate program requires a minimum of 15 credits, five courses.
Students in the certificate program will complete a total of 75 hours of pre-service internship in an adult, community, or college program, depending on the student's area of interest.
